Review: by Anthony and Lee

Ever since the first trailer for this movie came out we'd been expecting great things.  We were not disappointed.

What We Liked:

As expected, Man of Steel was intensely action-packed.  What make Superman great is his immense power, something the movie truly captures.  It portrays almost all of the iconic Superman action scenes.  It shows the ground shaking as energy pours off of him when he takes off in flight.  You see him use his super strength to knock enemies, cars, and buildings out of his way with ease.

The acting was solid.  The actors and writers did a great job of not only creating believable characters but really bringing them to life.

The casting was fantastic.  Diane Lane is just so classy, and Henry Cavill…  He was completely in tune with his role, just like how Robert Downey Jr. became Tony Stark.  Cavill did a great job capturing the inner turmoil of Clark Kent, who kept such a huge secret while just trying to fit in with the humans.  He also just looked like Superman in a way that no other actor has managed.  He is ripped.

The villain, General Zod, drew genuine sympathy from us.  The reasons that drove his actions were believable and, in a way, almost noble.  The actor, Michael Shannon, did a great job making us relate to his cause.

The writing was nothing short of brilliant.  It was a reboot of the Superman story, and they did an extraordinary job re-telling his origin story, including Krypton’s fall and the flashbacks of Clark’s past growing up and adjusting to being different from everyone else.

Hans Zimmer delivered yet another exceptional musical score.  We have every intention of purchasing the soundtrack as soon as it becomes available.

There are also some easter eggs tossed in for Superman fans throughout the movie.  If you’ve read some Superman comics, there are some plot points and actual comic pages that were brought directly to the screen.

What We Didn’t Like:

There was not really anything not to like about the movie aside from small non-issues.  The one thing that comes to mind was the insane amount of property damage.  The entire city of Metropolis was basically demolished.
