Review: by Anthony and Lee

We are admitted Will Ferrell fanatics, and Anchorman is one of our favorite movies of all time. His time on SNL is legendary, and Old School, Talladega Nights, and Zoolander also rank high on our list.  Having said that, We were very apprehensive about a sequel and had several questions.  2004 was so long ago.  Why did they wait until now to do a sequel? Did we really need a sequel?  Could a sequel even come close to the original?

What We Didn’t Like:

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues was a terrible disappointment.  We were so sad.  We spent the majority of the film watching in stone-faced silence as cheap, recycled joke after cheap recycled joke tainted the memory of what made the original so great.

Literally every hit joke from the first movie was back in its same format yet not as cleverly written, hoping for a laugh of nostalgia.  It was like the movie was trying to force the quotable lines.

Not settling for the nostalgia aspect of Brick’s idiocy, the movie introduced a love interest for him, Chani (Kristen Wiig).  Their interactions were painfully awkward in a way that  was not at all funny.  It seemed like a bad SNL sketch.

Oh, and Meagan Good was in it.  Everything about her and her character was terrible.

What We Did Like:

One of the few things we did like was the cameos.  The battle of the major news teams (another bit from the first movie) was back, and seeing the other actors and celebrities showing up was fun.

Summary

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues was terrible and didn’t need to happen. The few funny moments were not enough not save this over publicized piece of cat poop. We’re going to pretend it never happened.

  1. This was one of the worst movies I have watched in quite sometime. The fist movie was fantastic and I still quote it to this day…

Sadly they played the dumb card the entire movie. Only funny parts were raciest. They couldn’t make up their mind on what they wanted to do with this movie and brought in elements from the first that shouldn’t have been touched.

Sorry this was a waste of time and money. The first movie will forever live in glory but this one will pass away.

If you loved the fist movie I would recommend waiting for DVD or just pass this one.
