Review: by Anthony and Lee
We loved Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, so we were excited to see the sequel and hoped that a lot of the things that made the first movie so great would continue into the sequel.
What We Liked:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 was hilarious. It was just as funny as the first movie. It had all of our favorite characters like Steve the Monkey Flint Lockwood, Sam Sparks, and Manny the camera man, whose voice actors did as great a job as they did in the original. One exception was that Mr. T was replaced by Terry Crews as the voice of Earl Devereaux, but Crews did a pretty good job, keeping Earl the same crazy, lovable cook. Of course, there were lots of new characters to love as well, such as Barry the Strawberry.
Really, all of the foodimals were fantastic, and their names were not only funny but also down-right cute. Hippotatomus, Tacodile Supreme, Watermelephants, Bananostriches, and Shrimpanzees are just some of the clever new creations.
Their names are just a few examples of the many puns in the movie, which were arguably one of the best things about it. There were plenty of other jokes as well, both simple ones for the children and complex ones for the adults.
What We Didn’t Like:
There is not much to dislike about a fun children’s movie about food that becomes animals. Our only complaint, which isn’t really much, would be that it did not exceed the quality of the original. It certainly didn’t fall short, but it didn’t go the extra mile either.
Summary
If you loved Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, you’ll also love Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
