[TV Show News] Patrick Stewart and William Shatner to read at Kickstarter Events for ‘Reading Rainbow’
LeVar Burton has called in the heavies. Patrick Stewart and William Shatner will assist their former Star Trek alum in his Reading Rainbow Kickstarter to bring the show back by reading at a few events.
Supporters to donate $1,200 or more will get three tickets to see Shatner at an event in Los Angeles, or Stewart at an event in New York City. Donations of $1,700 or more will get you a meet and greet with the stars.
Burton’s initial goal was $1 million in 24 hours and after meeting that goal in just 11 hours, the new goal is $5 million.
“I am so proud that this community has come together to support this effort, and it’s a people’s thing. It’s the five (dollars,) it’s the 10, it’s the 24. It’s the $1 pledges. It’s unbelievable,” Burton said. “Or actually, it’s very believable. Thank you so much. We are literally changing the world, one children’s book at a time. God bless.”
