[TV Show News] Warner Bros. TV Looking to Reboot ‘Full House’
Warner Bros. TV is working to bring back the ABC 1980's family sitcom Full House.
With other ’80s and ’90s television shows coming back like The Odd Couple and old shows returning with a twist like the Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World, it isn’t that surprising that Full House could return to network TV.
As reported by TV Guide, Full House creator Jeff Franklin is writing the followup, which is in early stages of development and not set up at a network. The original series star John Stamos is getting a producer credit because of his producing role on the ABC sitcom, but I hear his involvement beyond that is unclear, with him starring again as Uncle Jess seeming unlikely.
The TV Guide report lists former cast members Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy), who have not done much since the end of the series, as being on board, with any potential involvement of Bob Saget (Danny) and Dave Coulier (Joey) also unclear.
Stamos addressed the possibility for a Full House redo on Andy Cohen’s Bravo talk show, saying, “We’re sort of working on a twist on a sequel, but we don’t know if it’s going to happen yet or not.” The cast has kept the show in the pop culture conversation with their recent skit on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and a joint yogurt commercial. Disney Channel recently successfully revived another ABC TGIF comedy, Boy Meets World, with sequel series Girl Meets World.
I don’t know anybody that DIDN’T watch Full House, so if the show returns I think they’ll get a lot of initial viewers that will check in just to satiate their curiosity.
