[TV Show News] ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ Canceled at TLC
TLC has canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in the wake of child molestation charges against Mama June's (June Shannon) boyfriend.
I can say with confidence that outside of a commercial or parody video I’ve never watched Toddlers and Tiaras or Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
I understand reality television has taken what once was The Learning Channel and drove it off a cliff long ago, resulting in the odd programming that’s on that channel at any given time.
I never understood the appeal of Honey Boo Boo or why someone would want to watch the inner workings of that family unfold on prime time television, but to each his own.
TLC has officially canceled its once-hugely popular reality series about the former Toddlers and Tiaras personality (real name Alana Thompson) and her colorful family.
The news comes just a day after TMZ posted a story that alleges series matriarch June Shannon is currently romantically linked with a man convicted of child molestation, prompting an immediate response from the network that it was “reassessing” the future of the franchise. Well, TLC has reassessed.
“TLC has canceled the series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and ended all activities around the series, effective immediately,” reads a network statement. “Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children’s ongoing comfort and well-being.”
Shannon, “Mama June” to viewers of the series, is said to be dating Mark McDaniel, a register sex offender in the state of Georgia who spent 10 years in prison on a child molestation conviction. Shannon’s relationship with McDaniel comes on the heels of word that she had split from her partner (and co-star) Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson.
