[Movie News] Jean-Claude Van Damme joins ‘Kickboxer’ Remake
Jean-Claude Van Damme is on board to appear the reboot of his 1989 hit action movie Kickboxer.
Van Damme will replace Tony Jaa in the Master Chow role, but he isn’t alone in the latest names that have signed onto this reboot.
Former MMA star turned actress Gina Carano will join Van Damme and UFC’s George St. Pierre, Dave Bautista, and Alan Moussi.
This is shaping up to be a big name action flick full of actors and actresses with actual butt kicking skills. I can’t wait to see this movie, I can only imagine how intense and complex the fight scenes can be when you don’t have to explain the simple mechanics of throwing a punch.
Gina Carano has joined the cast of Kickboxer, Radar Pictures’ remake of the 1989 martial artist actioner.
John Stockwell is directing the movie, which is shooting in New Orleans.
Carano will make up part of the muscle-glistening roll call that includes Guardians of the Galaxy star and newly minted James Bond villain Dave Bautista, X-Men: Days of Future Past stunt performer-turned-actor Alain Moussi, UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre (who played Batroc in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Jean-Claude Van Damme, who is returning to the franchise that helped launch his career.
Model-turned-actress Sara Malakul Lane plays the love interest.
Kickboxer follows Kurt Sloane (Moussi), a talented martial artist who travels to Thailand, where he must learn the secrets of the kickboxer to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of Tong Po (Bautista). Carano will play a fight promoter.
