[Movie News] ‘Batkid Begins’ Documentary will Debut at Slamdance Film Festival
Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World will debut at the Slamdance Film Festival.
5-year-old leukemia patient Miles Scott had a wish like many other kids and some adults, he wanted to be Batman.
The Make-A-Wish foundation teamed up with the city of San Francisco and planned to transform San Fran into Gotham City. Miles would don the cape and cowl and become Batman, he would thwart the evil plans of the Riddler and the Penguin and throw them in jail.
What wasn’t planned was the massive turnout and reaction to this story, over 14,500 people in the city alone came out to support Miles, not to mention many others on social media. Even President Obama sent Miles a Vine message.
Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World will follow the behind the scenes events on November 15, 2013, when San Fran was transformed. The crowdfunded documentary was directed by Emmy winner Dana Nachman, and has interviews with Miles, his family, and the team behind this entire event.
The Slamdance Film Festival will be held on January 23-29, 2015 in Park City, Utah.
