[Movie News] ‘The Unauthorized Beverly Hills 9210’ TV Movie coming to Lifetime
Lifetime is on a non stop roll of crushing the dreams of fans of old 90's television shows, Lifetime will now make an unauthorized Beverly Hills 90210 movie.
Following in the footsteps of “Full House” and Saved by the Bell,” Lifetime is creating another “unauthorized” telepic based on a ’90s show — this time, “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
“The Unauthorized ‘Beverly Hills, 90210′ Story” will follow the “roller coaster ride” of the series, highlighting the drama between cast members Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling and producers both on and off set. The telepic will follow the show’s ups and downs from many near-cancellations to achieving pop culture phenomenon status and creating international A-listers.
The movie will be exec produced by Peter M. Green and Howard Braunstein, and produced by Christian Bruyere. Jeff Roda is the writer, and Vanessa Parise is director.
As always, the makeover will not feature original cast members, but all-new actors portraying the original stars. This summer’s “Unauthorized ‘Full House’ Story,” which bows Aug. 22, recently released its first cast photo.
Most recently, “Beverly Hills, 90210″ got the redo treatment with a revival series on the CW titled “90210,” which spanned five seasons, wrapping up in 2013.
Lifetime’s first go-around with ’90s revival telepics debuted to less-than-stellar ratings with “The Unauthorized ‘Saved by the Bell’ Story” drawing in just 1.2 million viewers in 2014, but the project garnered considerable buzz for the cabler, which is sure to be the case for both “90210” and “Full House.”
