[Movie Review] Incredibles 2 (2018)

This is the movie I waited 14 years for. The end of the first Incredibles left us all on the best cliffhanger we had all collectively felt was so wrong to not have a continuation. Now that itch that could never be scratched was satisfied.
The Parr family finally bonded over their acceptance of their powers only to find themselves stuck in a rut with no place to call home until Helen Parr (Elastigirl) steps up after finding support in Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) who will stay at home and figure out how to care for his family.
What I Liked:
This movie knows it’s made us all wait so long to finally have it and it will try it’s hardest to make up for that time. I for sure appreciated the extra effort that was taken to acknowledge that lost time. The story does not lack behind either. Every move that was made by our main characters had real consequences. Though we as viewers cannot relate to the cast having powers we will certainly relate to the humanity that is tossed into the faces of our cast. Helen Parr (Elastigirl) who was primarily a stay at home mom prior to this movie has to deal with being away from her children in order to support them. Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) is faced with swallowing his pride in a sense that he feels he needs to provide for his family and to step aside and let his wife support them. Also, something to point out is the genuine character development that happens throughout this movie. We get to see how Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) learns the ins and outs of his children, things he didn’t know he didn’t know before this situation. Helen Parr (Elastigirl) revives confidence in herself she felt she’d lost long ago.
What I Didn’t Like:
What I believe this movie misses out on is a chance to take us to a place we have not been before. In the original movie, we found the family struggling with wanting to be heroes vs. the law preventing them from their very nature. Incredibles 2 continues the argument of if the world should accept supers back with welcome arms. Lucius Bes (Frozone) I feel is as much a staple of the franchise as any of the Incredibles, but I feel he isn’t used to his best capacity.
Summary
This movie will keep your incredible spirit alive. If you felt an attachment to the Parr family this movie will have you on an emotional rollercoaster. Even newcomers will find a home with the Parr family. For those who’ve waited, you will feel complete once leaving the theatre.
