Confession time. I’ve never played a Devil May Cry video game. I’ve only played one Castlevania game back on the NES. But the Netflix Castlevania series was nothing short of amazing and if this will be anything like that then I’m all the way in.

There’s been 6 video games to lay out the plot for this franchise along with several comic books, other animated shows, light novels, and even a stage play.

Give me more high quality animated adaptation of video games.

An animated series based on the Devil May Cry franchise is being developed by Adi Shankar, executive producer of the animated Castlevania series streaming on Netflix. Shankar revealed his next project to IGN.

Shankar said that he has “acquired these rights so […] Hollywood [doesn’t] fuck this up.” It’s not clear if that’s a reference to the creative liberties that Hollywood studios have taken with other Capcom franchises, like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.
