[Movie News] Robert Pattinson’s ‘Batman’ Suit Revealed by Director Matt Reeves
Matt Reeves posted a camera test showing us Robert Pattinson in the Batsuit.
This batman suit is more akin to Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Asylum than any other suit we’ve seen on screen thus far.
There are several interesting things about the costume that’s shown. There appears to be a collar separating the cowl from the cape; the suit appears to be made of some leather and not fabric; and, most interesting is the bat symbol on the chest. A lot of fans have speculated that it looks as though it’s made from pieces of a gun.
In Detective Comics #1000 (2019) written by Kevin Smith, Bruce Wayne undercover as Matches Malone goes into an illegal pawn shop that has all sorts of interesting items leftover from Batman’s run-in with his villains. After saying he’s not interested in what’s readily for sale and he wants the real goods, the pawnshop owner says he has the most famous gun in all of Gotham’s crime history, the gun that was used to kill Thomas and Martha Wayne in Crime Alley.
Much like how Bruce Wayne took his fear of bats and used it to strike fear in others, he takes the gun, melts it down to be used as a steel plate under his Bat symbol for protection from attempted stabbings or gunfire; thus using the metal that broke his heart as a child to save his heart as a man.
Director Matt Reeves revealed the first look at Robert Pattinson as Batman in his upcoming “The Batman.”
In the new footage, set to an ominous score by composer Michael Giacchino, Pattinson steps into a dark frame saturated in red light, as his sleek and angular Batman suit slowly comes into focus.
