Review: by GG

The movie takes an interesting perspective on the classic tale, telling the story in what I feel is the right way. I'm glad someone finally got the story right. I always wondered why there was only one giant in the old Jack and the Giant Beanstalk fables. Now, we know the truth.

What I Liked

There is lots of adventure, some action, and not too much unnecessary romance. A couple of twists and turns are thrown in there as well. Just when you think the movie is over and everything is safe, think again.

There are a couple of murders/deaths that are unexpectedly inappropriate for children.

Also, one of my favorite parts was Jack running from the Giants on his white horse.

 What I Didn’t Like

The movie goes on…for a while. There are some scenes that take a while to develop, and some parts of the movie are pretty slow. The story does not keep you involved/interested for the entire time, and the length definitely could have been cut down.

Probably one of my biggest questions for this movie is “why is there only 1 woman in the entire movie?” Do you mean to tell me that there are all of those Giants and not a single woman? I find that hard to believe. Even in the kingdom, there were very few women.

3.3

Summary

Jack the Giant Slayer is not a bad interpretation of a familiar story. The movie is just about average, but it is not bad for a family/kid flick.
