The Bryan Singer directed 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea movie had landed at FOX.

Singer and FOX have a long  relationship as Singer has directed and been involved with a number of the X-Men movies.

If you’re aware of Singer’s invovlement in those X-Men movies then you may have some hesitation about getting excited for this.  You’re not wrong.

Fox has come on board Bryan Singer’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” five months after the director announced that he wanted to helm the movie from his own script.

“20,000 Leagues” will be the fifth film that Singer has directed for Fox, dating back to “X-Men” in 2000. He’s directed three other “X-Men” movies for the studio: “X2,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse,” which opens May 27.

Singer posted a picture of his script for “20,000 Leagues” on his Instagram account on Sept. 17.

“It’s my 50th birthday (ouch), and I just put the finishing touches on the script for my next film. A story I’ve wanted to retell since childhood,” the director wrote. “I promise this will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! An adventure very dear to my heart. Not abandoning the #xmen universe. Very excited about #xmenapocalypse and beyond. #julesverne #20000leaguesunderthesea #nemo,” he added.

“X-Men: Days of Future Past” was a major success with $748 million in worldwide box office.

Jules Verne’s 1870 novel “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” is in the public domain. It has been made into a variety of films, most notably in Disney’s 1954 version starring James Mason and Kirk Douglas.
