[TV Show News] ‘Atlanta’ to Return to FX in 2021

I think this news meets the definition of bittersweet. FX’s Atlanta was such a massive success in these first two seasons not only due to the creative writing and jokes but primarily to the amazing cast. Everybody wants more of Paper Boi, Earn, Van, and the ever eccentric Darius. But, we’ll have to wait just a bit longer because these amazing stars have the unfortunate burden of being in high demand for every new project these days.

Since the shows rocket-like take-off we’ve seen Donald Glover go on to act in Spider-man: Homecoming, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and The Lion King – and that’s not even mentioning his musical career as Childish Gambino where he went on his fifth tour across Europe and North America. Brian Tyree Henry has shown up in Hotel Artemis, White Boy Rick, Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse, Widows, If Beale Street Could Talk, Child’s Play, Joker, and he’s currently filming for Marvel’s Eternals. Zazie Beetz has shown up in Deadpool 2, Joker, High Flying Bird, and Lucy in the Sky. Lakeith Stanfield was in Get Out, Death Note, Sorry to Bother You, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, Uncut Gems, Knives Out, and is currently filming for The Photograph.

So it’s easy to see how the next season of Atlanta is getting pushed back. Movie studios and TV show producers keep calling and apparently their agents don’t know how to say ‘no’ to a script. Whenever we do get the next season of Atlanta everyone will be bringing all of their newly gained acting experience to the set so I’m sure we’ll be greatly rewarded for our patience.

It’s officially going to be a year before FX delivers more episodes of Donald Glover’s “Atlanta.”

During the cabler’s Television Critics Assn. press tour in Pasadena, Calif. on Thursday, John Landgraf, chairman, FX Networks and FX Prods., announced that the next two installments of the Emmy-winning comedy series would not be ready until 2021.

Calling Seasons 3 and 4 “Part 1 and 2” of a new chapter in the series’ life, Landgraf said that the first 10 episodes should return in January 2021, with the next batch, which as of now will consist of eight episodes, following in the fall of that year.
