When I heard that Stephenie Meyer had a countdown to May 4th on her website, I just knew it had better be about Midnight Sun. If it was anything else, I would have been big mad. When she released the leaked chapters several years ago, fans ate it up and demanded more, but Meyer reported that she felt too betrayed and violated to continue working on the project at the time. So, fans have been waiting years for more of the story. A countdown to anything else would’ve been straight up disrespect. Thankfully, fans have been rewarded for their patience, and Meyer will release the finished book on August 4th.

“Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer announced the release of her new book “Midnight Sun,” a companion novel to her vampire love saga.

“Midnight Sun” will hit bookstores Aug. 4. While “Twilight” — and follow-up’s “New Moon,” “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn” — centered around shy high-schooler Bella Swan, the new novel will be retold through the eyes of vampire heartthrob Edward Cullen.

“Midnight Sun” comes 15 years after the release of “Twilight,” which was adapted for the big screen in 2008 to massive success, making household names out of the franchise’s stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
